- After sunset, mass proceeds to Muzdalifah where pilgrims pray and collect a number of pebbles which they use to cast at white pillars. The reason for this, is that Pilgrims will remember the Story of Satan and his attempt to persuade Abraham to pay no attention to God’s command on sacrificing his son. Throwing of the pebbles is symbolic in a way where pilgrims rebuke evil seven times. It is seven because seven represents infinity.
The Hajj Pilgrimage is the central most important event of the Islamic faith where Muslims of all races and tongues gather together for one of life’s greatest spiritual experience. Pilgrimage takes place every year between the 8th and the 13th days of Dhu al-Hijjah.
